Near a pond far away,
Woke up baby on a misty day,
Heavy were the eyelids, ready to close,
Yet she held them back, so as not to doze.
Little round eyes rolled around,
To see everything that did surround.
Strange was the land, calm yet tense,
Lost was the mind, trying to make sense.
As she brooded on with many a query,
She felt a peck on her head that broke her reverie,
And as large feathers took her in a warm embrace,
She felt as if she found shelter, in a baffling maze.
And as her mother nudged her out of hiding,
She continued to ignore her petulant chiding,
"The world is so daunting", why didn't she understand?
"Its mysterious aura I just can't withstand"!
But still she followed her mother up the bank,
When the nature's symphony broke from a deep sharp bang,
Terrified she turned her head to find the source,
Unsure if it was caused by a friend or a foe!
There ahead she saw her mother lying still,
As she herself was shoved into a confining thing,
"Mom" she chirped and screeched yet again,
Beseechingly she cried to let this adventure end.
But no soul paid heed, to her cries,
Though she banged against those confines,
Hapless, she softly chirped to wake up her mother,
But she continued to doze and seemed not to bother.
And on strangers land their ways parted,
In this putried atmosphere, all hope departed.
And for the unknown she awaited in line,
Hoping it was the end to this painful time...
